Ribbon Sequin Foot – Accessory of the Month August 2024

As with beads and pearls, it is easy to attach ribbons and even sequins with the help of our special ribbon/sequin foot. This foot is designed with guides through which ribbon or strung sequins can be inserted and it will allow them to feed through evenly as you sew. Besides affixing the ribbon, a wide ladder stitch can be used with narrow ribbon to make an easy and functional drawstring. Depending on the desired finish, use matching decorative thread or monofilament thread for a 3D effect. Layering the ribbons is also a creative option. This foot can also be used to attach elastic, see the below video links on how-to-use this foot.

Janome Sharp Needles – Accessory of the Month May 2024

Did you know that a needle gram for gram is the most important piece of metal on your machine. If you are sewing along at 600 stitches per minute, your needle is piercing the fabric TEN times per second. Each and every time, it must put your thread in exactly the right place at the right time for every stitch. It’s no wonder a worn needle can cause problems for your machine. You should start each new project with a new needle. Even better, you should choose the brand of needle constructed for your machine.

Janome needles are specifically designed for your machine, they are engineered to enable your Janome machine to produce the best quality stitches. Janome sharp needles have a sharp point which cuts through tightly woven fabric and is ideal for natural fabrics. Our sharp needles are suitable for linen, cotton, chiffon, georgette, net, fine lace, voile, gingham, muslin, poplin, gabardine, broadcloth, velvet, wool, fake fur, curtain fabrics and more woven fabrics.

¼” Seam Foot without Guide – Accessory of the Month April 2024

This foot is the sister foot to the original ¼” Seam Foot with a Guide and is supplied with some Janome 9mm models.

Having no guide, align the right edge of the foot with the fabric edge to stitch a ¼ inch seam in from the fabric edge. The wide footprint allows for the fabric to be fed evenly and controlled while stitching a ¼” seam. Having no guide gives stitching versatility, patchworkers can quickly stitch fabric pieces into blocks, by drawing a centre diagonal line then stitch a ¼” seam on either side, cut along the drawn line to give 2 patchwork blocks. Alternatively, use this foot to topstitch along the fabric edge or parallel to a seamline to embellish your project/garment. The oval hole in the foot allows for the needle position to be adjusted, so a ¼” seam can become a scant ¼” seam.

A handy foot to have for your machine.
